This month we will be reading The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. 

Set in 1789 Maine and inspired by a true story, The Frozen River follows midwife Martha Ballard as she investigates a shocking murder uncovered beneath the ice. Blending mystery, history, and resilience, the novel reveals a woman’s courage and pursuit of justice in a world that often silenced her.
