This month we will be reading Forbidden City by Vanessa Hua.

A teenage girl living in 1960s China is recruited into Mao Zedong's employ, taking the chance to escape her impoverished village. As she rises up the ranks and becomes closer to the Communist leader, however, she begins to question all that she has come to believe.
