Content Creator / Graphic Designer

Are you a multi-talented creative wizard with a passion for promoting knowledge, imagination, and community engagement? Do you enjoy crafting captivating social media content and stunning visual designs? The Lincolnwood Public Library is seeking a highly skilled and innovative visual communications coordinator to join our dynamic team. As a member of the marketing team, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing engaging social media content and creating visually captivating graphics to inspire, inform, and captivate library patrons of all ages.

Minimum qualifications: 

Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or equivalent creative degree. Minimum 3 years marketing experience is necessary. In order to be considered, you must share a visual portfolio showcasing examples of your graphic design work and successful social media campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to develop a comprehensive social media content strategy that aligns with our brand's objectives and target audience.
  • Create compelling and shareable content for various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to promote library services, events, and initiatives.
  • Create compelling visual designs, including graphics, infographics, videos, and animations, that effectively communicate the library's mission and engage our diverse community.
  • Craft engaging and informative copy that aligns with the library's brand voice and resonates with our target audience.
  • Collaborate closely with the library staff to understand the library's goals, events, and programs, and translate them into engaging social media content and visually captivating designs, including event promotions, book displays, signage, newsletters, and digital campaigns. 
  • Manage the library's social media accounts, including content planning, scheduling, and community engagement, while staying updated on current trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support their design needs, including event promotions, signage, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Maintain a consistent and visually cohesive brand identity across all social media platforms and design materials.
  • Stay informed about emerging design trends, social media tools, and technologies to continuously innovate our digital presence.
  • Monitor social media platforms for user engagement, comments, and messages, and respond promptly and effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Brainstorm and execute innovative ideas for social media campaigns, contests, and promotions to increase brand awareness and drive engagement.
  • Analyze key performance metrics and provide insights to optimize social media strategies and content performance.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a social media content creator and graphic designer, with a portfolio showcasing successful campaigns and visually stunning designs.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, as well as social media management platforms.
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms, their algorithms, and best practices for maximizing engagement and reach.
  • Excellent storytelling abilities, with the ability to craft compelling and concise copy.
  • Strong eye for design, composition, typography, and color theory.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for literature, learning, and community engagement, with a deep appreciation for the role of public libraries in society.
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field .

Salary & Hours:  $23-25hr DOQ for a 37.5/hr in-person workweek. This is an in-house position with a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends throughout the year.
